The Cottages at Chandler Creek Has Opened an Additional Luxury Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care Residence

ROUND ROCK, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Cottages at Chandler Creek, an assisted living residence specializing in care of individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and other memory disorders, has completed an additional facility consisting of four, 12-resident townhomes. These high-end, luxury residences are unique in their design plus offer an individualized level of quality care. The Cottages at Chandler Creek is a fully licensed assisted living facility with Alzheimer’s Care Certification by the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services.

“The Cottage concept has been designed with the dementia resident in mind,” said Lynda Canas, Director of Operations for The Cottages. “Our nurturing and cottage-like setting allows them to live the best quality of life, combined with emotional and physical care that is tailored to their individual needs. We realize that placing a loved one into the care of others is a tough decision for family members; however, we find that transition occurs quickly and that our residents acclimate to their new home soon after the move.”

The Cottages care concept was directly inspired by Mayo Clinic involvement at the original Cottages built in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Individual cottages of eight to 12 residents provide a home-like and familiar atmosphere, easing the transition and providing comfort to the individual. Each cottage has a residential kitchen, dining room, living room and a large family room with views of Chandler Creek and a well-manicured garden. This more intimate setting allows caregivers the opportunity to understand the unique needs of each individual. Meals, activities and daily programs are developed around smaller “family” groups within each townhome. Each bedroom has a full bath with shower, allowing our residents additional privacy while in residence. Additionally, the Cottages at Chandler Creek is built on a serene and picturesque landscape, where residents can enjoy the outdoors.

In addition, current research from the National Institute on Aging indicates that the prevalence of Alzheimer's disease doubles every five years beyond age 65.
